Silent Movie...Drop

 I started by making an outline of my type on Illustrator to copy and paste into After Effects.

I choose my background colour then applied a white solid on top of it, as that is the colour I wanted my mask to be so my text would be white on the cyan background.

 My text dropped down into view, into the title safe zone. I then wanted the letters to drop down off the screen then the whole word to drop out of view.

Some improvements need to be made, the P drops down slightly after all the other letters which is not what I want to happen, but that is the main, overall idea done.
